A Mediterranean species with fragrant white flowers, each with a magenta "nose". The dark green leaves are mottled in various degrees. They like that climate: hot and dry summers - mild and wet winters. Sounds just like Oregon to me. However, in order to survive said wet winters, they need to be planted in well drained soil. Another option is growing them in pots and place them in the shade in summer and a cool, light room in winter. They'll take frost but not prolonged.
