This is one of those plants that's hard to believe that they are native AND easy to grow. Reportedly needs constant moisture, but our experience has been they'll take drier conditions quite well. Grows eventually into small colonies, spreading by short rhizomes and producing low rosettes of deep green leaves. Volunteers may also appear in random places; they have targeted our gentians in full hot sun in the nursery. The single flowers are seemingly small but being bright white and arranged spiraling on tall spikes, they are very prominent in a fall garden setting when the days get darkerSweetly fragrant, especially in warmer days and as a cut flower. Hummingbird dessert!
