A species closely related to Daphne cneorum and is possibly a form of the species. The plant habit is similar to D. cneorum var. pygmaea but blooms 2 weeks later and has also glaucous (blue-green) leaves. The numerous flowers are strongly scented and distinctively salmon-pink, especially compared to other Daphne flowers, which are often lavender-pink.
