We received this exceedingly impressive deep red selection from Wild Ginger Farms. They seem to be the only other source at this point. According to their catalog, ‘Berry Red’ comes from the collection of Rae Berry of the now closed Berry Botanical Garden. They have given it the cultivar name 'Berry Red' in her honor. Like Lilium canadense, it spreads by rhizomes, but the stems can get up to 6 feet tall, loaded with up to 40 flowers, each 2-3" across! Easy in full sun to light shade. These are extra, extra extra large bulbs, dinner size, with the potential to have 20-30 blooms the next year. Plant bulbs about 3-4" deep.
